As special educators, everyone of  my colleagues, the masters students started working feverishly on his/ her blog doing their best. The results were astonishing, a set of great educational blogs that would be so helpful for special educators.

GO CREATIVE!!!

Using the old teaching methods and tools with the 21st century learners is not effective anymore. Upgrading the teaching process and the tools we use  is a must. To do this, you need new tools.
Below you will find  three  of the many  21st century web tools that will  help you enhance the teaching/learning process..Go creative!
When  teaching is fun, learning will be fun too....

1. Scratchhttps://scratch.mit.edu/about

2. Storybird https://storybird.com/challenges/create-quick-picture-book/

It helps students make their own stories, different genres, and use illustrations needed. This tool is easy to use. Teachers and students can use this tool to make the writing process an enjoyable experience.

I used this tool in my classroom and I encouraged my students to use it in order to write their own stories. It made the writing process (which they considered a burden) an interesting process.

3. toondoo.comhttp://www.toondoo.com/

This is an easy tool to create cartoons or comic strips. It makes writing very interesting.

N.B: The videos up are downloaded from youtube.

CREATIVE,CRITICAL THINKERS

What are the 4Cs in the classroom?

In order to stay updated with  the requirements of the 21st century, you need to communicate effectively, collaborate, think critically and creatively. Educators have to plan with a different approach where the learning process include better forms of communication and collaboration. Using  well-organized and well planned group work in the classroom will produce more creative and critical thinkers.

If You Want to Teach Them, Love Them

Dear teachers,
In this world, many kids are mistreated or abused at home.  All they need is love. I can hear you say, "As a teacher, my job is to teach them, not to love them or spoil them".
I understand, but I disagree.
Go back in time to your childhood, when you were students just like them. Didn't you need your teachers to believe in you.

Kids need to feel loved, appreciated and above all they need to feel that we  believe in them. Yes, BELIEVE IN THEM.
Their self-esteem is badly affected by their  ENVIRONMENT. Parents either care more about their kids' performance at school and their grades more than their well being,  or they are too busy to care at all.
Decades ago, many parents were convinced that a successful person is the one who gets  his degree from one the best universities around the world,  ignoring different kinds of intelligence, their kids" individuality, or even other life skills they need to acquire to be successful and productive.
Our job as teachers is to encourage these kids and motivate them to do their best and to reach their full potential overcoming all the obstacles they face..
We need to help them BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES.

Regards,
 English teacher
