In this world, many kids are mistreated or abused at home. All they need is love. I can hear you say, "As a teacher, my job is to teach them, not to love them or spoil them".
I understand, but I disagree.
Go back in time to your childhood, when you were students just like them. Didn't you need your teachers to believe in you.
Kids need to feel loved, appreciated and above all they need to feel that we believe in them. Yes, BELIEVE IN THEM.
Their self-esteem is badly affected by their ENVIRONMENT. Parents either care more about their kids' performance at school and their grades more than their well being, or they are too busy to care at all.

Decades ago, many parents were convinced that a successful person is the one who gets his degree from one the best universities around the world, ignoring different kinds of intelligence, their kids" individuality, or even other life skills they need to acquire to be successful and productive.
Our job as teachers is to encourage these kids and motivate them to do their best and to reach their full potential overcoming all the obstacles they face..
We need to help them BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES.
We need to help them BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES.
